| När en Samojedisk hustru är i beråd att föda, gör man för hennes räkning en liten tsjum (meädiko) och tillkallar en пови- валная бабка. För henne måste födelskan bekänna om hon varit sin man otrogen. Utan en slik bekän- nelse kan ingen förlossning ega rum. Samma likt är mannen underkastad.

When a Samoyed wife is about to give birth, she covers the costs of a little tent (meädiko) being made and calls for a midwife. The woman in labour must confess in front of the midwife if she has been unfaithful to her husband. Without such a confession, no childbirth can take place. Her husband is subjected to the same confession. |
