The content of this text was recorded in Russian by Ljudmila Zhukova from one of the residents of the village Nelemnoe. In 1990 it was translated into Yukaghir by
Vasilij Shalugin.
Translation
(47-1) We lived on the mowing lot and mowed the grass, our whole family.
(47-2) There were six children of us, we were together.
(47-3) Not far from us there lived a family.
(47-4) They had one son, a small boy.
(47-5) Everybody used to leave to mow the grass, and we used to stay with that child to look after him.
(47-6) That boy's father didn't use to do anything when he finished his work. After dinner he started shooting his gun at a crow's nest without looking at it.
(47-7) There was a tree with a crow's nest standing not far from the tent.
(47-8) He wounded the leg of the crow's chick.
(47-9) My father and mother said to him: "Never shoot the crow, this is a sin.
(47-10) This calls down trouble."
(47-11) We saw the crow's chick with the wounded leg and felt that something bad would happen.
(47-12) In the evening their small boy's leg became swollen.
(47-13) His father went to take that boy to the village.
