The content of this text was recorded in Russian by Ljudmila Zhukova from one of the residents of the village Nelemnoe. In 1990 it was translated into Yukaghir by
Vasilij Shalugin.
Translation
(37-1) Aunty Ksenija told this story. "Long ago when we were young, we used to do fortune-telling, lying on the river on the snow.
(37-2) We lay down and then had to get up without destroying the marks we made by lying down. We had to get up and go without making the snow fly or stepping on it.
(37-3) The next day we would come back and see what traces were there.
(37-4) If there were dog traces, you would marry a Yukaghir.
(37-5) If there were traces of a cow or horse's hoof, you would marry a Yakut.
(37-6) If there were reindeer traces, you would be the wife of an Even."
